Ewan McGregor to star in new TV appeal for UNICEF

Actor Ewan McGregor is to star in a new television appeal for UNICEF asking people to donate money to help children in east Africa.

The Star Wars star has been an ambassador for UNICEF for many years and is the face of a new TV appeal asking for fans to try and donate something to help the children of east Africa that are suffering from a drought.

He revealed that £20million is needed to bring supplies to the area.

In a new clip from the promo, he said: “In just one refugee camp in Kenya, there are nearly half a million people in urgent need of food, water and basic healthcare.

“The situation throughout the region is becoming more and more critical; the threat of starvation is very real… Five pounds does not go far here in the UK but for a child in east Africa it could be the difference between life and death.”
