Last week Ewan made two public appearances in the UK – firstly at the annual Serpentine Gallery Summer Party on June 26, and then a special appearance at Buckingham Palace on June 28, where he received his OBE for services to Drama and Charity – Congratulations to Ewan!
This afternoon the first trailer for Ewan’s upcoming film August: Osage County has been released online. Watch it in full below – are you looking forward to seeing this?
Get your “Ewan grabs his gun, eh?” Carry On-style puns out of the way, because the casting wheel has spun again on troubled Western drama Jane Got A Gun. After a search that included an attempt to secure Bradley Cooper’s services, Gavin O’Connor has locked down Ewan McGregor to play the big bad.
For those still unaware of the story, Jane Got A Gun finds Natalie Portman as the titular homesteader, shocked to see her estranged outlaw hubby (Noah Emmerich) stagger home full of bullets after being double-crossed by his gang.
With the criminals (now led by McGregor) on their way to finish the job, Jane decides to reach out to a sharp shootin’ old flame (Joel Edgerton) for assistance in defending her home.
The production has faced seemingly endless problems in development and since the shoot began. Michael Fassbender left the project early on and director Lynn Ramsay departed on the first day of filming after clashing with the producers. O’Connor stepped in to call the shots, but watched as Jude Law decided he no longer wanted to play the villain because he’d signed on to work with Ramsay. Now, as whispers began that it might never be finished, McGregor’s arrival at least offers some hope.
McGregor, last seen in Jack The Giant Slayer, will on screen in August: Osage County (due December 13), Son Of A Gun and Born To Be King. He’s also attached to Justin Kurzel’s Our Kind Of Traitor with Mads Mikkelsen and Ralph Fiennes.
Hello! Sorry about the lack of updates for the past few weeks, but I recently moved house and I have only been able to get the Internet installed today. Now I’m back online and ready for updates! To start, thanks to the lovely Georgia, we have a batch of HQ stills from Jack the Giant Slayer, which is currently in UK cinemas. Have you seen it yet?

Well, here’s a little bit of a mystery to cap off your week. Just like that, a teaser has dropped online without any context at all, but promises some kind of project involving director James Gray and stars Ewan McGregor and Vinessa Shaw. Hmmm….
There’s not many clues to go by in the brief, one minute trailer but what we’re told is that McGregor is playing a character named Mats Anderson, while Shaw takes the role of Special Agent Carter. Hmm. Adding a bit of intrigue, is that the fact that the name of the person who uploaded the video is also Mats Andersen (and it’s currently the only thing on their Vimeo channel). Aside from that, the footage itself makes it clear that all three are working together on something, but what that exactly is remains unclear.
If we were to take a wild swing in the dark, we’d wager it could be part of an ad campaign for something. Earlier this year, Gray dropped a commercial for Martell, so perhaps he’s rounded up these two stars for another venture. Or maybe he’s making some kind of short film under the radar. Either way, we’ll let you speculate on what it’s all about below.
For now, we’re patiently awaiting the filmmaker’s next effort, “Lowlife,” starring Marion Cotillard, Joaquin Phoenix and Jeremy Renner and all eyes on are on the Cannes Film Festival where we think/hope it will make its premiere.
I have just added nearly 500 HD/Blu-Ray quality screen captures of Ewan a Henry from 2012 film The Impossible. I urge any Ewan fans to try and see this film if they can, it is absolutely one of the most moving films I have ever seen, and one of the finest performances of Ewan’s career.
